Cheerleading Club won the JAPAN CUP 2026 Japan Championships for the fifth time in two years.

From August 27th (Thursday) to 30th (Sunday), 2026, at the National Yoyogi Gymnasium First Gymnasium (Shibuya Ward, Tokyo), the Teikyo Cheerleading Club BUFFALOS achieved a magnificent victory, winning their fifth title in two years.
This four-day competition determined the best team in each category from among the teams that had won their respective regional qualifiers. BUFFALOS, fueled by the disappointment of their previous performance, had trained diligently with all 81 members united as one. In the Division 1 free routine semi-finals held on the third day of the competition, they delivered a flawless performance, scoring 277.5 points and captivating the audience with their highly polished routine, advancing to the finals the following day. In the finals on the last day of the competition, high-level performances were showcased in each category. BUFFALOS, performing last, delivered a magnificent performance that inspired and moved the many spectators who had gathered at the venue, achieving the highest score of the competition with a total score of 416.5 points and securing the championship title. After winning the championship for the first time in two years, captain Ikoi Seki (3rd year, Faculty of Medical Technology), who led the team, said, "This year we challenged ourselves with new techniques that included many male members, and I am very happy that it has paid off. Our goal going forward is to aim even higher and continue to focus on beauty even within a mixed-gender team." She reflected on the past year and spoke about her future goals.
In addition, BUFFALOS won the Division 2 freestyle competition with a perfect performance as a well-balanced team centered around experienced fourth-year students, making it a competition where the results of the team's collective efforts were clearly demonstrated.
