The Teikyo Formula Project achieved its best-ever result, finishing 16th overall at the Formula Student 2026 Japan competition atUtsunomiya Campus

At the 24th Student Formula 2026 Japan competition, held from August 2nd (Sun) to 7th (Fri), 2026 at Aichi Sky Expo (Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture), the Teikyo Formula Project (TFP), an engineering club from Teikyo University's Utsunomiya Campus, achieved its best-ever result, finishing 16th overall and receiving the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association Chairman's Award, given to the team that completed all judging rounds and races.
The competition aims to contribute to the revitalization of engineering education at universities and technical colleges by providing students with an opportunity to learn the essence and process of manufacturing by forming teams and developing and building a small Formula-style racing car over approximately one year. The judging criteria are diverse, and the competition is characterized by the fact that it judges overall manufacturing ability, including not only driving performance but also vehicle marketing, planning, design, manufacturing, and cost management. This year, the competition was held about a month earlier than usual, so the students worked on the production intensively in between classes and on Saturdays and Sundays. The TFP team, mainly composed of third-year students, enhanced their teamwork and completed the vehicle after making improvements such as increasing the horsepower compared to last year. They overcame numerous accidents during the competition and completed the dynamic judging on the final day. In particular, in the endurance race, which comprehensively evaluates the vehicle's performance over long distances, they came in 9th place and earned a lot of points, achieving their best result ever of 16th place.
Thank you to all the sponsoring companies who supported us, and to all the alumni who cheered us on and gave us advice during the tournament. TFP will continue to strive for even greater heights.
