A special seminar by Pascal Laham, co-founder of International SOS, was held at Itabashi CampusItabashi Campus

On Friday, August 7, 2026, a special seminar titled “Beyond Clinical Practice: The Journey from Clinician to Global Health Innovator” was held at Teikyo University (Itabashi Campus). The event was co-hosted by the Itabashi Global Office Committee and Teikyo University (Graduate School Graduate School of Public Health).

For this seminar, we welcomed Mr. Pascal Reham, co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of International SOS—a global leader in risk management for security, healthcare, and well-being—who delivered a lecture in English on his career and innovation in the field of global health.

After working as an emergency physician in France’s emergency medical system, “SAMU,” Mr. Rayham was assigned to Indonesia as a medical staff member as part of the French government’s foreign policy. Inspired by his experiences there, he co-founded International SOS with Mr. Anou Vésier in 1985.In his lecture, he shared valuable insights into his long-standing efforts to protect human life, safety, and health around the world and lead organizational crisis management support; how his experience as a clinician has been applied to the development of international medical support services and crisis management solutions; and the perspectives required in the face of changing global circumstances.During the Q&A session, participating students and faculty members asked a lively series of questions, making it a highly meaningful opportunity for them to consider the front lines of global health and their future career paths.

Our university will continue to provide opportunities to learn directly from pioneers active on the global stage and to foster talent with an international perspective.
