On Saturday, June 13, 2026, students from Graduate Course of Midwifery held a maternity class titled "Postpartum Life Together: Dad and Mom" at Teikyo University's Itabashi Campus. The class was designed to help expectant mothers and their partners discuss breastfeeding and life after childbirth.
On the day of the event, participants were introduced to creating a postpartum life schedule and utilizing government services for postpartum support, while imagining life with a baby. They also had the opportunity to experience holding a newborn doll. Each student worked closely with the participants, carefully conveying information useful for childcare, making it a valuable learning experience for the participants and a precious opportunity for the students to deepen their practical learning. The students who ran this maternity class shared comments such as, "It was challenging to prepare while considering the needs of those expecting their first child, but I'm glad we were able to finish it successfully," and "There were times when we struggled as we went through trial and error, but we worked with the desire to make the participants happy, and in the end, we were able to create a class that the dads and moms enjoyed, which fills my heart with joy."
Our university will continue to cherish our connections with the local community and strive to train midwife who possess both practical skills and rich human qualities.
