On August 8th (Sat) and 9th (Sun), 2026, Teikyo University held an open campus event at Utsunomiya Campus. At Utsunomiya Campus, student staff took the lead in welcoming participants and held numerous lively, hands-on events. A variety of programs were prepared, including programs that utilized the university's well-equipped practical training facilities and talk shows where attendees could hear directly from students about student life and entrance exam experiences.
The Faculty Faculty of Science and Engineering has set up many hands-on corners, including an introduction to the activities of the ultra-small artificial satellite "Teikyo Sat series," a tour of a research laboratory that is working to unravel the mysteries of the Japanese eel's ecology, a greenhouse tour where visitors can experience the wonders of plants, and an opportunity to try extracting ceramide from cocoa, the raw material for chocolate.
In Department of Judo Therapy within Faculty of Medical Technology, we held a hands-on session in the practice room where students could experience applying casts and bandages. In addition, during a student talk show, several students shared their experiences with the entrance exam and their student life, including their commute.
Department of Regional Economics Faculty of Economics created opportunities for visitors to think about economics, such as a corner where they could think about life in an evacuation center in the event of a disaster through a quiz, and an opportunity to deepen their understanding of taxes using board games.
On the day of the event, guidance was provided for international students to help them start their studies and student life in Japan with confidence. This included explanations about the university and entrance examinations, a tour of the international student dormitory on campus, and a sample of the student cafeteria. Current international students and faculty members introduced key points about classes and daily life, as well as career paths.
Participants shared comments such as, "I was impressed by the students' genuine voices and the professors' sincere research stance," "I was impressed by the richness of the content. If we could have opportunities like this from elementary school age, I think both the community and the university would become even more vibrant," "I participated in many hands-on events, and they were all fascinating and very satisfying," and "I participated because I wanted to see the atmosphere of Teikyo University once again. The students seemed bright and cheerful, which made me want to enroll even more." Thank you to all the high school students and their parents who participated.
Our next open campus event, the last one before this year's entrance exams, is scheduled for Saturday, August 22nd. A science experience event for children, "Enjoy! Science!!" (advance reservation required), will also be held concurrently. Faculty, staff, and students look forward to welcoming you.
