Yoichi Shirasawa, Teaching Associate in the Faculty of Faculty of Science and Engineering, gave a panel presentation on bamboo product design at the Asia Pacific Interior Design Project Exhibition.

On Saturday, May 9, 2026, the Asia Pacific Interior Design Project Exhibition was held at the "MComplex" Interior Design Solutions Center inside Vincom Megamall Royal City in Vietnam, where Yoichi Shirasawa, Teaching Associate the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Course Department of Department of Integrated Science and Engineering and Engineering, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Science and Engineering Teikyo University, presented a panel work.
The event was co-organized by the Vietnam Interior Design Association and the Vietnamese Young Interior Design Community, and the panel exhibition featured an international panel display by designers from all nine countries and regions in the Asia-Pacific region.

Teaching Associate Shirasawa presented product designs created by processing bamboo. The works include the "CN88" lounge chair, which was made using a technique that allows for nearly uniform bending regardless of the presence or absence of nodes or the direction of bending, and the detailed design expressed through the formation and joining of its processed components. These designs have been registered with the cooperation of the university's Teikyo Technology Transfer Center, and patent applications are currently being filed for the processing method and sculptural structure.
Teaching Associate Shirasawa commented, "The Asian region has many environments suitable for bamboo growth, so bamboo has been widely used as a material and for everyday products. We were able to propose new processing methods and design ideas to young designers in the region. I will continue to work on research into products that can contribute to environmental protection." Further achievements from Teaching Associate Shirasawa are expected.
