BULL Co., Ltd., where Associate Professor Kawamura of Faculty of Science and Engineering serves as Chief Technology Officer, has successfully demonstrated its space debris prevention device "HORN" in orbit.
On Friday, June 12, 2026, BULL Co., Ltd.—a Teikyo University spin-off company led by Masaaki Kawamura, who serves as Chief Technology Officer (Faculty of Science and Engineering, Department of Aerospace Engineering, Associate Professor)—successfully conducted an in-orbit demonstration of “HORN,” a device designed to prevent the creation of space debris.
On that day, the "HORN-L" and "HORN-R" demonstrators of the space debris prevention device "HORN" were launched from the Tanegashima Space Center aboard the H3 rocket No. 6 (30th configuration test vehicle). "HORN-L" and "HORN-R" separated normally from the rocket and operated normally after separation, successfully deploying their membranes. In addition, orbital descent based on orbital data was confirmed, and optical observations of the deployed membrane state were also conducted, successfully achieving the first on-orbit demonstration.
These results are seen as a significant step forward in product development aimed at solving the future space debris problem, and are expected to accelerate commercialization.

Furthermore, in May 2026, our university's Spacecraft Research and Development Center was involved in the launch of a CubeSat (microsatellite) by Dainikko Engineering Co., Ltd., demonstrating our commitment to collaborating with the local community. We will continue to support Associate Professor Kawamura's activities and will also continue to provide startup support to commercialize and implement the research results of our university's faculty and other researchers.
Associate Professor Masaaki Kawamura of Faculty of Science and Engineering has been awarded the title of the first venture company to originate from Teikyo University.
