Okinaga Research Institute Special Advisor Yoshimi Professor led a trial session for a basic physical education class aimed at children from kindergarten through third grade.

On Thursday, July 23, 2026, at the Sugamo Sports Center Dojo (Toshima Ward, Tokyo), Koji Yoshimi, a special instructor at Okinaga Research Institute of Teikyo University (Professor), led a trial session for a basic physical education class aimed at children ranging from kindergarteners to third-graders.

This class aims to help children safely move their bodies on tatami mats while learning how to use their bodies to prevent injuries from falls, as well as developing fundamental skills such as balance, flexibility, and agility. As part of Teikyo University's social collaboration project, a 12-session program was conducted from April to July 2026. The next class is scheduled for September to November, and this trial session was held in advance of its opening.

On the day of the event, in addition to basic movements such as running, turning, supporting, and bracing, the children incorporated movements of various animals, such as frogs and sea otters, into their exercises. While enjoying the playful elements, the children learned how to use their bodies in a way that is also relevant to judo's breakfalls. They also learned important attitudes for group activities, such as bowing, greeting, and taking turns. The children enthusiastically participated in various exercises and persevered, never giving up even when faced with difficult movements.
Through the trial session, participants were seen enjoying physical activity and approaching it with confidence.

Teikyo University will continue to leverage its specialized expertise to benefit the local community and actively engage in social collaboration activities that support the healthy growth of children.
