Students presented their business ideas in English at a special lecture by Professor from the National University of Singapore (Hachioji Campus

On Thursday, July 9, 2026, Teikyo University held a special lecture entitled "Value Creation in Asia: Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and the Future of Universities" at its Hachioji Campus, with Professor Ishtiaq Pasha Mahmood of the National University of Singapore Business School as Senior Assistant Professor. Approximately 50 people attended the lecture, including Japanese students and international students interested in entrepreneurship and international business.

This lecture was held with the aim of allowing students and faculty to learn about entrepreneurship and innovation from a global perspective and to deepen their understanding of value creation in Asia. The National University of Singapore Business School, where Professor Pasha is based, is known as one of Asia's leading business schools. The event was made possible through the connection of Narumi Shioi, Senior Assistant Professor in Faculty of Fukuoka Medical Technology Department of Medical Technology Fukuoka, who served as the overall moderator for the day and had previously been affiliated with the same business school.

Professor Pasha gave a lecture on the importance of having the attitude and passion to take on global business challenges. He explained that, drawing on the example of many Japanese people who were active overseas in the 1980s, it is important in business to consider "who you are providing value to" from the perspective of the market and customers.
Following the lecture, students from Associate Professor Kohei Mitsunami's seminar Department of Business Administration Faculty of Economics, and students from Hachioji Campus entrepreneurship club "Startup" gave presentations on entrepreneurship and new businesses. The students actively challenged themselves to present in English and shared their ideas. Professor Pasha evaluated the presentations and advised that "it is important to deepen your considerations by taking into account the perspective of real business." Students commented that "it was an experience to be exposed to the participatory learning unique to overseas universities, and it felt like participating in a seminar with a local Professor," and "it was a valuable opportunity to gain international and practical learning."

Global Initiative Office will continue to foster a global perspective and provide opportunities for learning and exchange that expose students to diverse values, while strengthening collaborations that extend beyond campuses.
