On July 11, 2026 (Saturday), Yoshihiro Kusuoka (4th year, Faculty of Medical Technology), a member of the Teikyo University Ekiden (Road Relay) Club, won the 10,000m race at the U23 Asian Championships held in Ordos, China, representing Japan. This was the first time the U23 Asian Championships were held, and it is an international competition for athletes under the age of 23.
Kusuoka maintained a steady pace from the start of the race, staying with the leading group and consistently posting good lap times. He calmly assessed the situation until the final stages, then launched his sprint with 300m to go, pulling away from the pack. He crossed the finish line with ease, winning in 29 minutes 29.34 seconds. He became the inaugural champion of the men's 10,000m at the first-ever U23 Asian Championships, winning the gold medal.
