July 13, 2026
On July 4th (Sat) and 5th (Sun), 2026, the 74th All Japan Intercollegiate Kendo Championships were held at the Nippon Budokan (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), and two Kendo Club participated. This tournament was held concurrently with the 60th All Japan Women's Intercollegiate Kendo Championships, and brought together elite competitors from all over the country to determine the best intercollegiate kendo practitioner in Japan. From our university, Kanta Eto (4th year, Faculty of Medical Technology) and Ikuya Takahashi (4th year, Faculty of Education), who had won the Kanto Intercollegiate Kendo Championships, participated.
Both Eto and Takahashi fought bravely against strong opponents until the very end, but unfortunately, they were unable to advance to the top ranks. After the match, while their disappointment was evident, they spoke to their teammates who had come to support them, expressing their renewed determination for the autumn team competition.
We will use the experience gained in this tournament as motivation to train even harder in preparation for the team competition in the fall. We would appreciate your continued support for our university's Kendo Club.
Kanta Eto (4th year, Faculty of Medical Technology) was eliminated in the first round.
Ikuya Takahashi (4th year, Faculty of Education) was eliminated in the second round.
