July 2, 2026
From June 19th (Fri) to 21st (Sun), 2026, the 28th Kanto Cheerleading Championships were held at the National Yoyogi Gymnasium (Shibuya Ward, Tokyo), with the Teikyo University Cheerleading Club BUFFALOS participating in 9 teams across 5 divisions. Although they narrowly missed out on a third consecutive championship title, finishing as runners-up, they received the "Best Manners Award," which recognizes their exemplary behavior and attitude as cheerleaders.
BUFFALOS fully showcased the results of their daily practice, captivating the audience with their perfectly synchronized stunts and powerful performance. Although they fell just short of achieving a consecutive victory, the athletes trusted their teammates and completed their performance to the very end, receiving warm applause from the many spectators.
The Best Manners Award is given based on votes from other teams, and is determined by the cheerleaders' behavior throughout the competition, including their actions and support for other teams, demonstrating a level of professionalism befitting a cheerleader. Before the closing ceremony on the second day of the competition, the BUFFALOS cheerleaders were seen voluntarily picking up trash in the warm-up area, ensuring that the team using the area the following day could enjoy it. This kind of thoughtfulness and consideration outside of the competition was a memorable and characteristic display of BUFFALOS's character.
Although the result was disappointing, BUFFALOS's challenge, which embodied not only their performance skills but also their consideration for others and sportsmanship, left a lasting impression on many people. The team will use this experience as motivation to grow even further and move forward towards victory in the next competition. We ask for your continued warm support for the Teikyo University Cheerleading Club BUFFALOS.
