A special lecture was given by Kohei Kameyama, former member of the Japanese Olympic team for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics,Hachioji Campus
On Tuesday, June 23, 2026, a special lecture was held at Teikyo University's Hachioji Campus as part of an applied seminar for the Department of Department of Sport and Medical Science Faculty of Medical Technology The guest speaker was Kohei Kameyama, a former member of the Japanese national gymnastics team at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and currently the CEO of Turtle Partners Co., Ltd., which operates "Gymwith Gymnastics School" in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture.
This lecture was designed around a theme based on questions and interests submitted by students in advance, focusing on the theme of "How to connect the experiences of top athletes to one's own learning and future." In the lecture, Mr. Kameyama shared his experiences competing on the world stage, discussing how to cope with pressure and tension, maintain motivation towards achieving goals, setbacks and difficulties in his athletic career, and the process of overcoming them, using specific anecdotes. He also introduced how he is utilizing his athletic experience in his current coaching and business activities. After the lecture, students divided into groups to reflect on the lecture content and organize questions they wanted to ask Mr. Kameyama, connecting it to their own athletic experiences, student life, coaching, and future careers. During the Q&A session, students asked questions about mindset in the field of competition, how to recover from failure, and what they value as coaches, leading to a lively exchange of opinions.
This special lecture provided a valuable opportunity for students studying sports medicine and athlete support to deepen their understanding of the psychology and career development of athletes. The students were able to reflect not merely on the experiences of top athletes as success stories, but to connect them to their own experiences and future aspirations.
