On Thursday, June 18, 2026, FC Tokyo held a special lecture at Teikyo University's Hachioji Campus. Approximately 300 students from Hachioji Campus participated, learning about the social role and community involvement of sports clubs.
Our university has an official partnership agreement with FC Tokyo, and this class was taught by Associate Professor Toshio Kumai of the Department Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Faculty of Economics, Professor Fumio Tsukahara Faculty of Medical Technology Department of Sport and Medical Science, and Assistant Professor Satoshi Iwamura of the same department.

In this class, we welcomed Mr. Yoshinori Sudo, Director of Sustainability Promotion at FC Tokyo's Area Promotion Headquarters, as Senior Assistant Professor. He gave a lecture on the theme of "Thinking about the forefront of sports x sustainability with FC Tokyo." Mr. Sudo introduced the club's philosophy and medium- to long-term vision, as well as various community contribution activities centered on sustainability, such as hometown activities, environmental conservation efforts, and participation in local events. He also explained the role that sports clubs play not only in terms of competition, but also in solving local issues and realizing a sustainable society, and the students listened attentively.
During the Q&A session following the lecture, there was a lively exchange of opinions on challenges in promoting collaboration with local communities and ways to continue sustainability activities.

This class was conducted as part of a practical learning initiative jointly promoted by FC Tokyo and our university. Going forward, we plan to implement active learning programs that include fieldwork and projects ranging from planning to implementation to addressing local issues, creating opportunities for students to deepen their learning proactively through on-the-ground experience. Our university will continue to promote industry-academia collaboration and engage in practical educational activities that connect with society.
