A dementia supporter training course was held for new students of Faculty of Fukuoka Medical Technology FukuokaFukuoka Campus

From May to June 2026, Teikyo University's Fukuoka Campus conducted a "Dementia Supporter Training Course" for new students of Faculty of Fukuoka Medical Technology.

This course is held annually with the cooperation of Omuta City, and its purpose is to deepen correct knowledge and understanding of dementia, as well as to train "dementia supporters" who can support people with dementia and their families in the community to the best of their ability.
In this year's course, we invited professionals working in hospitals and rehabilitation facilities in Omuta City as Senior Assistant Professor. They explained the basics of dementia, the characteristics of its symptoms, and how to interact with people with dementia while taking into account their feelings and the background of their behavior. The new students who took the course deepened their understanding by viewing it as a relevant issue and had the opportunity to think about the attitude required of future medical professionals. After the course concluded, all participants received a supporter card, a symbol of their dementia supporter status, and the students took their first step as dementia supporters.

At Fukuoka Campus, we will continue to focus even more on training healthcare professionals who are rooted in the local community.
