The brass band participated in the Japan-U.S. Student Music Exchange.
On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, the Teikyo University Wind Orchestra participated in "Music Masters Japan 2026 Colorado Springs Japan Tour - Japan-US Student Music Exchange," held at the Yokohama Minato Mirai Hall Grand Hall (Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture). The Teikyo University Wind Orchestra, the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony, and the Ochanomizu Orchestra performed, fostering musical exchange between Japanese and American students. This concert was held with the aim of creating cross-border exchange through music and broadening the horizons of young people who will lead the next generation.
The university's brass band performed five pieces, including the required piece for the 2026 All Japan Brass Band Competition, captivating the audience with their brilliant and powerful sound. After the performance, they received a huge round of applause, and attendees enjoyed the music along with the beautiful reverberation unique to the large hall. Students who participated shared comments such as, "We were able to communicate across language barriers through music," and "Performing in a hall different from usual broadened my perspective on music."
This concert provided a valuable opportunity for Japanese and American students to deepen their exchange through music, and in addition to musical learning, it was an experience that enhanced their understanding of the significance of cultural exchange and their motivation for future activities.
