On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, the Japanese national team members who will be sent to the U23 Asian Championships to be held in Ordos, China from Thursday, July 9 to Sunday, July 12, 2026 were announced, and Yoshihiro Kusuoka (4th year, Faculty of Medical Technology) of the Teikyo University Ekiden (Road Relay) Club was selected to represent Japan in the men's 10,000m race.
The U23 Asian Championships is being held for the first time this year and is an international competition for athletes under the age of 23. The Japan Association of Athletics Federations has decided to send promising athletes to this tournament with the aim of giving them overseas competition experience, with an eye on their future performance in the Olympics and World Championships. Kusuoka was selected for this tournament based on her past competition record and accumulated running ability. Further success is expected against the world's top competitors.
