Teikyo University has been registered by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as a "Registered Practical Training Institution" and a "Registered Japanese Language Teacher Training Institution" at itsHachioji Campus

On April 30, 2026 (Thursday), Teikyo University was officially registered by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as a "Registered Practical Training Institution" and a "Registered Japanese Language Teacher Training Institution" for obtaining the national qualification of Japanese language teacher.

Japanese language teachers are professionals who instruct international students, business people, foreign workers, and foreign residents living in the community in the four skills of Japanese language. They also foster communication skills, promote understanding of Japanese culture and society, and support the social participation of people from diverse backgrounds. Currently, it is recognized as a "national qualification (registered Japanese language teacher)," and those who obtain the qualification are expanding their fields of activity both domestically and internationally, mainly in Japanese language schools, universities, international exchange organizations, and overseas educational institutions.

To obtain this national qualification, one must pass the "Basic Examination" and the "Applied Examination," and complete the "Practical Training (Internship)." Our university has now been recognized for its high quality as an educational institution and has been registered as both institutions simultaneously. As a result, by enrolling in and completing our university's "Japanese Language Teacher Training Course," the "Basic Examination" will be waived, and all of the "Internship" required for qualification acquisition will be completed within the course.
Our Japanese language teacher training program is taught by experienced Senior Assistant Professor, and various measures are taken to deepen students' understanding. Furthermore, a system is in place to systematically conduct practical training on campus through collaboration among faculty and staff. These aspects have been highly praised by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and we plan to actively accept trainees from outside the university in the future.

Teikyo University will develop a learning environment that meets the expectations of those who "want to work in a global environment in the future," "are interested in a career in education," and "enjoy languages and intercultural communication."
