Teikyo University Itabashi Campus and School of Medicine Hospital have received the Itabashi Ward Landscape AwardItabashi Campus

On Thursday, March 19, 2026, the 4th Itabashi Ward Landscape Award ceremony was held at the Itabashi Ward Office (Itabashi Ward, Tokyo), and Teikyo University received the award. This award was established in 2019 with the aim of recognizing buildings and urban development activities that contribute to the formation of a good landscape, and is held every two years.

For this fourth annual awards ceremony, four projects were selected from 17 applications for buildings and 8 applications for organizations, after review by landscape advisors and the Landscape Council. Our university's Itabashi Campus and School of Medicine Hospital (Kaga 2-chome, Itabashi-ku) received this award for its use of the comprehensive design system to create a lush, open space through the development of vacant lots and roads.

At the awards ceremony, Itabashi Ward Mayor Ken Sakamoto gave a speech saying, "Itabashi Ward became a landscape administration organization in March 2011, and we would like to work together with the residents to create a town where 'people, things, and the town' are in harmony. We aim to protect the landscape and create a safe and dignified town, and we would like you to continue to lend your support to improving the ward's beautiful landscape. I would like to express my sincere respect and gratitude to all the award recipients for their activities to date. I hope that this landscape award will lead to raising awareness of landscapes among many people."

At the awards ceremony, Executive Director and Vice President Hiroko Okinaga of the university received a certificate of commendation and a commemorative plaque from Mayor Sakamoto. She expressed her gratitude and joy at receiving the award, saying, "First of all, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for receiving such a prestigious Teikyo Senior Nursing School. Since the hospital was built in 1971, we have been making progress in Itabashi for more than 50 years. In 2010, the rebuilding plan began, and in 2015 the university building was completed, followed by the green space and research building. With the understanding of the local community, we have been able to develop many buildings, including Teikyo College of Nursing, Teikyo Kindergarten, and Kaga Sakura no Mori. When constructing the new campus and hospital, we designed the site without boundaries in order to make it an open facility for the community, and the green space and community street are also used by local residents. The students who attend our university are aware that they are being watched over by the local community, and this has contributed to their growth. The campus is a place where approximately 10,000 people stay, including students, staff, and inpatients, and we are deeply grateful for everyone's cooperation and guidance. Thank you very much for today."

Teikyo University will continue to strive to create a pleasant landscape and contribute to community development together with the local residents.
