Teikyo University Museum held a symposium to commemorate its 10th anniversary at itsHachioji Campus

On Saturday, March 14, 2026, a symposium commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Teikyo University Museum was held at Teikyo University Hachioji Campus, entitled "Local Communities and the University Museum: The Potential of the University Museum as a Place for Human Development and Human Resources. The symposium was held to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Teikyo University Museum, which was established to exhibit valuable academic materials collected in the course of the university's research activities and the results of its educational and research activities, and to promote the university's social contribution through collaboration with other institutions. The symposium was attended by 120 people, including faculty, staff, current students, and alumni who have been involved in the museum's activities, as well as members of community organizations active in the neighborhood.

In the first part of the lecture, the University's Chairman and President Yoshihito Okinaga spoke on the theme of "Teikyo University's Educational and Research Activities and Social Contributions," introducing the University's educational and research initiatives and its relationship with society. Mineyuki Horikoshi, curator of the Teikyo University Museum, then took the podium to report on the history of the museum from its opening to the present and the expansion of its activities. In addition, Norihito Kitagaki, Center for the Study of Regional Exchange, Tsuru Bunka University Professor and Hitohiko Kimizuka, Deputy Director of the Office of University History, Tokyo Gakugei University Faculty of Education Professor, spoke about the state of regional museums and their expectations for the Teikyo University Museum, and offered their views on the museum's prospects for the next 10 years.
In the second part of the talk session, in addition to the speakers of the first part, Kyoko Nakayama, Deputy Director of the Teikyo University Museum, and Atsuro Koda, Curator of the Teikyo University Museum, joined as moderators to review the 10 years of history of the Teikyo University Museum and discuss its prospects for the next 10 or 20 years. He also touched on the characteristics of the university as a general university that extends its educational and research network nationwide and overseas, and discussed the possibility of sharing and disseminating knowledge and materials obtained in different regions and centers at the museum. After the symposium, a social event with food and drinks was held for the speakers and participants, who engaged in a lively exchange of opinions as they reflected on the content of the lectures.
