On January 6, 2026 (Tuesday), Yuto Hoshi (4th year student, Faculty of Science and Engineering) received an Excellence Award in the Japan Society for Design Engineering Journal Cover Design Contest.
This contest sought original CG designs representing JSDE (Japan Society of Design Engineering) with a blue color scheme. Out of 30 entries, we unfortunately did not win the grand prize, but we were awarded an Excellence Award.
Ms. Hoshi, a member of the Mitsuhashi Laboratory (UX/XR Laboratory) in Department of Data Science and the Department Department of Mechanical and Precision Systems at our university's Faculty of Science and Engineering and Engineering, has long pursued virtual reality, video production, and CG creation as hobbies, and applied at the recommendation of her supervisor. Ms. Hoshi's design is based on a steampunk theme, and the concept is to create a clear and clean cover design by representing the letters JSDE with pipes and gears, making the letters pop and simple.
