On Friday, February 13, 2026, Good Practice Meeting on International Collaborative Research and International Exchange was held at Teikyo University, Itabashi Campus, organized by Global Initiative Office. The purpose of this meeting was for faculty members conducting international research and staff members responsible for international exchange to share their experiences and utilize them in research and exchange activities on campus.
Following the opening remarks by Yoshihito Okinaga, Chairman and President of Teikyo University, and Makoto Asashima, Director of Advanced Comprehensive Research Organization, faculty and staff members from the four campuses took the podium to give presentations on a variety of themes unique to a comprehensive university. From the faculty members, Professor Koichi Suzuki from Department of Clinical Laboratory Science, Professor Rika Masuda from Department of Business Administration, Professor Shohei Sakuda from Department of Integrated Science and Engineering, Senior Assistant Professor Narumi Shioi from Department of Medical Technology, reported their experiences of international joint research in Africa and other Asian countries.
Our staff members, Katsushi Oikawa, Kaede Motohashi, Shouna Watanabe, Midori Matsuoka, and Rika Ishida, who are involved in international exchange on a daily basis at each campus, reported their approach to international activities tailored to the characteristics of their respective campuses. They also introduced good practices of each faculty and staff member, and shared difficulties and process they faced in getting to that point.
During the discussion that followed, a lively exchange of opinions took place and the discussion was highly engaging. At the end of the session, Hiroko Okinaga, Executive Director and Vice President of Teikyo University, spoke of her expectations for micro-actions towards internationalization by each faculty and staff member.
After the event, faculty and staff members shared their thoughts saying, "This was encouraging for faculty and staff who will be involved in international collaborative research and international exchange in the future," and "I would like to try it myself." The event provided an opportunity for over 100 faculty and staff members to discuss practical topics related to the internationalization of the university.
Our university will continue to promote international collaborative research and exchange through internationalization, and utilize the results for the benefit of society.
