The 2025 Faculty of Education Awards Ceremony was held on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Teikyo University's Hachioji Campus. Faculty of Education Awards system began in 2016, and this year marks its 10th anniversary. This system recognizes individuals and groups enrolled in Faculty of Education Faculty of Education who have achieved outstanding results or received high praise in fields such as academics, sports, culture, international exchange, and welfare. This year, three students received individual awards from Dean Haruo Sato.
Ms. Yui Yamaki (Faculty of Education, 4th year) has been actively studying abroad in Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea since 1st year while studying in the English teacher training program to broaden her international perspective. After returning to Japan, she shared her experiences with younger students as a supporter of the Study Abroad Fair organized by Office of Global Education and was in charge of South Korea international students in the International Student Speech Contest, providing careful support from revising manuscripts to pronunciation instruction. In addition, for my graduation research, I took up lookism and wrote a thesis entitled "Characteristics and Issues of Appearance Values in Contemporary Society". The paper was highly evaluated for its survey of more than 300 undergraduate students, showing the impact of appearance consciousness on the psychology and self-evaluation of young people, and discussing the importance of values that are not influenced by appearance from an educational perspective. She also contributed to university publicity, and her comments were featured as a representative student in the introduction of Department of Education and Culture in the 2024 Teikyo University Guidebook.
Reina Sakane (Faculty of Education, 4th year) was highly evaluated for her research and international exchange activities. She participated in the "Joint Project for the Promotion of International Understanding Education and Global Citizenship Education in Northeast Asia through Storytelling" organized by UNESCO Asia-Pacific Centre for International Understanding Education as a representative of Japan in the exchange program for the academic years 2024 and 2025. Together with students from Japan, Korea, and China, we discussed themes of cultural diversity and peace in English, and in particular, our presentation in FY2025 was highly evaluated by researchers in China and South Korea, and its contents were published as a book on global citizenship education at South Korea. On campus, she led activities as a seminar leader and was recognized for her multifaceted activities, including being featured in the public relations magazine Flare.
Ayumi Onogi (Faculty of Education, 4th year) researched "The Support System for Children with Disabilities in the City and Nursery Schools: Focusing on the Support System for "Concerned Children"" as an Advanced Graduation Research Thesis, and examined the support for children with disabilities and "concerned children" in kindergartens and nursery schools from the perspective of cooperation between the city and the schools, and also with other institutions. We also discussed how the support system should be organized. The report is highly praised for its original analysis that integrates the support system and childcare practice, which have conventionally been treated separately, into a hierarchical structure of "government - preschool - childcare provider". In addition, the report is highly evaluated for its semi-structured interviews with childcare providers and administrators, and for its careful analysis of the challenges and possibilities of the support system. The project also contributed to university publicity, and its comments were included as a representative student in the introduction of Preschool Education Course in the 2024 Teikyo University Guidebook.
