On Sunday, January 25, 2026, Teikyo University's baseball team held a baseball clinic for elementary school students at Teikyo University's Sagamiko Ground (Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture). Approximately 120 elementary school students, team staff, and parents from eight teams in Sagamihara City participated.
On the day, under the guidance of student coach Asakawa Ren (3rd year, Faculty of Medical Technology) and baseball club coach Watanabe Ryosuke, the students were divided into teams and conducted warm-ups, fielding, base running, and batting practice. The elementary school students expressed admiration for the students' demonstrations and chatted with them during practice breaks, helping to close the gap between them. For parents and guardians also commented that they had been looking forward to attending with their children, as they rarely have the opportunity to have university students watch practice. The baseball class ended in a harmonious atmosphere from start to finish.
Yamada Kazuharu (3rd year, Faculty of Medical Technology), captain of the baseball team, said, "I participated in the baseball class as a teacher, and I learned a lot through teaching. It was a good opportunity to reexamine my own play as I thought about how to communicate so that others could understand. Every time I saw the expressions of excitement on the children's faces, I realized the importance of my role in conveying the joy of baseball. I feel that this experience has helped me grow not only as a technical player, but also as a person. Thank you to everyone who participated."
Teikyo University will continue to create opportunities for local children to interact through sports.
