On Sunday, December 7, 2025, the Judo Club held a judo trial session for inexperienced and beginner judo players at Teikyo University Martial Arts Center. This event was held as part of the "TEIKYO Multi-Sports Carnival," which provides opportunities for people to experience and enjoy sports. The purpose of this multi-sports event for elementary school students in the Tama area is to create a place where even elementary school students who are not good at sports can experience the joy of sports through interactions with Japan's top university teams and top athletes.
On the day, about 40 elementary school students participated, splitting into groups with judo club members and carrying out warm-up exercises and ice-breaking games, which helped to ease tension and allowed participants to interact with each other with smiles on their faces. Next, they practiced the basic judo technique of ukemi, with club members providing detailed instruction on the important movements required for safely receiving techniques. After that, they practiced one of judo's signature techniques, the o-soto-gari, against club members, and although the technique seemed difficult at first, they gradually got the hang of it with repeated practice. At the end, the participants even applied techniques to club members, making for a fun time.
Teikyo University will continue to hold sports events that are closely connected to the local community, creating opportunities for children to experience sports.
