Professor Tsuboi of Faculty of Economics conducted a "Disaster Drone Pilot Training Course" (Disaster Prevention Basics and Disaster Response) at the Saga Disaster Support Center and Training Center.Utsunomiya Campus

On December 7 (Sun.), 8 (Mon.), and 21 (Sun.), 2025, Teikyo University Faculty of Economics Department of Regional Economics Professor conducted "Disaster Drone Pilot Training" (Basic Disaster Prevention and Disaster Response) at Saga Disaster Support Base and Training Center (Omachi-machi, Kishima-gun, Saga Prefecture).
Omachi-machi has experienced widespread flood damage and isolation caused by torrential rains in 2019 and 2021, and since FY2024, private companies and university research institutes have been taking the initiative in training drone pilots in cooperation with the local government. The training program is characterized by a curriculum that emphasizes not only drone piloting skills, but also an understanding of the disaster response headquarters of the government, support structures by NPOs and other organizations, and responses from the perspective of disaster victims.
Under this project, an evacuation guidance drill using voice guidance from the sky with the participation of local residents using speakers mounted on a drone is being conducted in July 2025, and discussions are underway to establish an "empty road" as a pre-flight route. We will continue our efforts to improve local disaster preparedness and response capabilities through surveys, research, and on-the-ground practice.
