Eight first-year students from Department of Data Science Faculty of Science and Engineering, Teikyo University, participated as exhibitors at SEMICON Japan 2025, an international semiconductor industry exhibition held at Tokyo Big Sight (Koto-ku, Tokyo) from Wednesday, December 17th to Friday, December 19th, 2025, and presented the results of research they have been working on since enrolling. The exhibition is one of the largest semiconductor industry exhibitions in Japan, with over 120,000 visitors and over 1,200 exhibiting companies, and is known as a place where companies related to semiconductor manufacturing gather together to introduce the latest technologies and conduct business negotiations.
Our university's Department of Data Science was newly established in April 2025, and this exhibition was made possible by recruiting volunteer students. The students conducted research on the theme of "New methods for managing data on semiconductor devices." Some students had never used programming or a PC before, but they worked together in teams of two or three, gradually acquiring the necessary skills to solve problems in preparation for their presentation in December.
On the day, corporate representatives visited the students' exhibition booth and provided various opinions and questions about their research. For the students, it was a valuable experience to experience the real atmosphere of the industrial world, and the feedback they received at the exhibition provided valuable hints for advancing their future research. Through this experience, the students realized how learning data science can be useful in the real world, and received great inspiration that will help them grow in the future.
