A student from Department of Clinical Laboratory Science gave an oral presentation as a representative of Japan at the 63rd Korean Association of Clinical Pathologists General Academic Conference International Student Forum (Itabashi Campus
On Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the International Student Forum of the 63rd Korean General Academic Conference of Clinical Pathologists held in Ulsan, South South Korea, Kazuyasu Yamagiwa (1st year, Faculty of Medical Technology) gave an oral presentation in English as a representative of Japanese students.
This academic conference is attended by South Korea clinical laboratory technician, and every year the Japanese Society of Clinical Laboratory Technologists (JSC) invites Japanese clinical laboratory technician to present their work.
Every year, the Society holds an International Student Forum, where the Japan Clinical Laboratory Association (JCLA) publicly solicits student presenters from clinical laboratory technician training schools in Japan with the aim of providing students studying clinical laboratory science with an opportunity to interact with students from South Korea and Taiwan as part of their global education. Two students are selected from these applicants to participate and give presentations.
This year's theme was "Expanding the Frontiers of Medical Technology - The Evolving Role of Medical Technologists in the Future of Healthcare," and Yamagiwa's submission, titled "Conquering Food Allergies as a Biomedical Laboratory Scientist," was successfully accepted.
On the day of the award, an oral presentation was given based on the selected theme, and Yamagiwa's confident presentation attracted the attention of the audience. A student from our university applies every year, and two years ago a first-year student was selected. Yamagiwa's selection this time follows on from that success.
It is hoped that in the future, students like Yamagiwa will be able to interact with and gain experience from students from overseas, which will motivate them to become clinical laboratory technician and produce students who will be active internationally in the future.
