Graduate School from our university won a poster award at the 37th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Plant Morphology.Utsunomiya Campus

At the 37th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Plant Morphology (Fukuoka Conference) held at the Fukuoka International Congress Center (Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture) on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, Moka Iwabuchi, a Graduate School at Teikyo University (2nd year student Graduate School of Science and Engineering), was selected for the best poster and won the Poster Award.
The Japanese Society of Plant Morphology is an academic organization that deals with a wide range of research fields related to plant morphology, and promotes the development of botany through exchanges between researchers, educators, and students. At this year's conference, a wide range of research on plant morphology and function was presented, leading to lively discussions.
The poster award is selected by votes from the general members of the society from among the 70 papers presented by students as representatives. This time, Iwabuchi's research, titled "The effects of anesthesia treatment on plant wound response genes and plant hormones," was highly praised, leading to the award.

Iwabuchi has been conducting research under Professor Masashi Asahina of Department of Integrated Science and Engineering Environment and Biotechnology Course at our Faculty of Science and Engineering, and has conducted a detailed study of the responses shown by plants when they are wounded, combining histochemical analysis and molecular biological techniques, revealing changes in gene expression and hormone dynamics. In particular, his visualization of cellular-level responses and changes at the wound site has attracted attention from the perspective of plant morphology.
We look forward to seeing even more success from Mr. Iwabuchi in the future.
