On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, Teikyo University's Faculty of Law of Department of Political Science, "Basic Liberal Arts Seminar," invited Chinami Tanaka from the Human Resources and General Affairs Department of Uchida Systems Co., Ltd. as a guest speaker to give a lecture on the theme of "Advice from Human Resources Professionals when Thinking About Work."
This class is positioned as an extension of the "Life Design Seminar" offered 1st year, and aims to develop the basic academic abilities required of university students, such as basic communication and writing skills, as well as basic social science literacy, logical thinking, critical perspectives, and presentation skills, as a foundation for professional study of politics and policy.
Uchida Systems Co., Ltd., which was our guest speaker this time, continuously participates in job-hunting events hosted by our university's Career Support Center, and is also a cooperating company in Career-related courses "Internship," actively engaging in educational collaboration with our university.
In his lecture, Mr. Tanaka spoke about the importance of values when choosing a company, the diversity of working styles, and how to prepare and be mentally prepared for an interview, based on the message that "job hunting is not a place for companies to choose students, but a place for each other to choose each other." The specific content, which combined his own experiences in job hunting and his work experience as a human resources officer, was developed from a practical perspective on job hunting, providing a valuable learning opportunity for students to look ahead to the future.
In the future, the Basic Liberal Arts Seminar will continue to develop the basic skills that will lead to the seminars that begin in 3rd year, as well as provide education that is conscious of the practical skills required in society, so that each student will sincerely face their own future and strive to grow as a member of the community and society.
