On Thursday, June 19th and Friday, June 20th, 2025, Teikyo University Fukuoka Campus hosted second-year junior high school students from Omuta City Amagi Junior High School for a work experience program. This was the second time the program has been held, having started last year.
This time, the program was conducted by the responsible faculty and staff with the themes of "Getting to know Teikyo University" and "Getting to know the work of people who work at the university (administrative staff edition and faculty edition)."
On the first day, the students began by exchanging business cards using original business cards, followed by a tour of the campus and work experience in departments such as the General Affairs Department, Academic Affairs Department, and Library, deepening their understanding of Teikyo University and the work of university staff.
On the second day, Professor Yuji Oki of Department of Occupational Therapy Faculty of Fukuoka Medical Technology gave a presentation on his research and a VR experience. The students seemed excited and impressed by the technology, which they experienced for the first time. At the end of the program, the students were presented with three tasks, including a review of the two days, and asked to tackle them from the junior high school students' perspective. The program concluded with a presentation of the results, inviting the staff and other involved parties who had supervised the students. Participating students commented, "I was very happy to have been able to learn so much," and "I want to use what I learned in the future."
Through this work experience learning, we were able to deepen our interactions with junior high school students from Omuta City and have them think about the meaning of work and their future career paths, making it a meaningful experience for our university as well.
Fukuoka Campus will continue to actively engage in Community Engagement, placing emphasis on ties with the local community.
