On Friday, June 20, 2025, special guest speakers were invited to give special lectures in the Life Design Seminar II class at the Department of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Teikyo Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, including Mr. Masahiro Hatori, a pharmacist at Cancer Institute Ariake Hospital who works on the front lines of cancer treatment, and Ms. Tomoha Hori, a managing pharmacist at Suzuken Co., Ltd., a leading pharmaceutical distribution company.
This is a compulsory subject for second-year students, and its purpose is to help students understand the breadth and appeal of the fields in which pharmacists can work, to acquire the ability to study independently in order to become the ideal pharmacist, and to develop an outlook for future career development. Based on these goals, this lecture was planned as part of Support for Career Development for lower-year students, with the aim of giving the approximately 300 students a closer feel for the work of a pharmacist and helping them choose their future career path.
On the day, the speakers shared their own experiences and talked about the work they do at their respective workplaces, how they interact with patients, and how they are using the knowledge they learned at university in the field. The students said, "I learned about the path of a pharmacist, which I had never imagined, and it broadened my horizons for the future," and "It was a very good experience to hear about specific work and rewarding aspects." Through the lectures, the students gained a deeper understanding of the diverse career paths and social roles of pharmacists, and it was a valuable opportunity to increase their motivation for future learning.
Going forward, our school will continue to work to build a bridge between pharmaceutical education and practice through lectures by practitioners and experiential learning.
