The 104th Kanto Intercollegiate Track and Field Championships (Kanto Intercollegiate) was held at Sagamihara Gion Stadium (Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture) from Thursday, May 8th to Sunday, May 11th, 2025, and Ryogo Shinoki (4th year, Faculty of Medical Technology) of Teikyo University's Track and Field Club came in second in the javelin throw event.
This is an athletics competition for university students from the Kanto region, and is one of the major Kanto student athletics competitions alongside the Hakone Ekiden. A wide variety of events, from short distance to long distance, throwing, and jumping, were held over four days, and our university's Ekiden (Road Relay) Club and Track and Field Club participated. Shinoki was in the mid-way point of his personal best of 58m, but in his second throw of the competition he significantly improved his personal best with a record of 60.92m, taking second place.
Comment from Ryogo Shinoki
I was feeling a bit anxious because my first throw was a foul, but I was able to adjust and switch my mindset for the second throw. I also participated in the tournament last year, so I think that experience helped me to focus on my own feelings and body movements without getting too excited or upset about how the match went, which led to my results.
