On Saturday, April 5, 2025, the opening game of the Metropolitan University Baseball Spring League was held at Giants Town Stadium (Inagi City, Tokyo) against Tokai University. Approximately 250 supporters, including Rugby Football Club, Cheerleading Club band, women's basketball club, and students from the Teikyo Sports Supporters Association, gathered in the stands and gave loud cheers to the Teikyo University baseball team.
Students from the baseball club also attend Rugby Football Club, Cheerleading Club, and women's basketball games, and participate in the brass band's regular concert every year, showing their support for each other in a way that is unique to students.
Captain Rui Miyagi (4th year, Faculty of Medical Technology) said, "For the opening game of the spring league, we had a lot of people come to support us, including Cheerleading Club, brass band club, Rugby Football Club, women's basketball club, and Teikyo Sports Supporters Association. Looking from the field, the stands were the crimsonest they've ever seen, and I felt happy to be able to play baseball in front of such a large cheering squad, and I was encouraged by all the cheers. The league games will continue from now on, so I hope you will continue to give your warm support to the baseball team." He spoke with great enthusiasm, expressing his gratitude for the encouraging support and his enthusiasm for the future.
Keigo Ikeda (4th year, Faculty of Medical Technology), who has been in charge of the current cheering in the stands since his second year, expressed his gratitude, saying, "Many people came to the opening game of the spring league. We received the best support, with the third base stands dyed bright red, visible from the field, and the thunderous cheers that continued to ring out throughout the game. I'm sure there was some tension as it was the opening game, but the players were encouraged by the warm cheers from everyone. Although the sports are different, I feel that by supporting and cheering on each other's club activities, Teikyo University's sports are able to aim for even greater heights. We got off to a tough start in the first week, but we would like to turn the cheers we received from everyone into strength and aim to be the best in Japan. Thank you so much for your great support at the opening game."
Although the team fought well in both the opening and second games, they lost narrowly, but the next game will be against Nippon Sport Science University at Batting Palace Aiishi Stadium Hiratsuka (Hiratsuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture) on Saturday, April 12th and Sunday, April 13th. Please support our baseball team as they take on the league matches that will continue for about a month and a half.
