On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, the Teiho-kai held a mock trial at the Teikyo University Hachioji Campus Moot Courtroom. The Teiho-kai is a legal club whose goal is to provide a forum for legal discussion, with the aim of helping students prepare for law Graduate School or obtain qualifications, and to use the knowledge they acquire to develop legal thinking skills.
On the day of the mock trial, lawyers and prosecutors were divided into two groups to discuss two issues: "The relationship between crimes such as trespassing and freedom of expression" and "The success or failure of self-defense." During the question and answer session, sharp points were made from each perspective, resulting in a heated discussion.
Many of the first-year students who led the discussions commented that they "felt keenly that their own knowledge and perspectives are still shallow and narrow," "felt they hadn't tried hard enough," and "felt they lacked ability." However, they also made positive comments about their future studies, saying, "It was a good opportunity to realize just how limited my knowledge is," and "I was able to gain various perspectives from the opinions I received from my teachers and seniors during the general evaluation. I would like to consider various issues on a daily basis."
Faculty members from the Faculty of Faculty of Law also participated and provided commentary on the day, making it a meaningful experience in which participants gained a wide range of knowledge that can be applied not only to Teihokai activities but also to future studies.
