A talk event was held to celebrate the launch of the Teikyo University Silk Road Book Series

On Friday, March 28, 2025, a talk event was held at Kinokuniya Shinjuku Main Store (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo) to commemorate the launch of the Teikyo University Silk Road Series, with Professor and Director Research Institute of Cultural Properties, Teikyo University, Yamauchi Kazuya, on the theme of "Digging, Reading, and Talking About the Silk Road."

In April 2016, our university formed the Teikyo University Silk Road Academic Research Team, led by Professor Yamauchi. The team is focusing on academic research on the Silk Road, a route of exchange between civilizations that ran east to west across the Eurasian continent, and is conducting excavation surveys at Suiyab (Ak-Beshim ruins, Kyrgyzstan), a Silk Road trading city that was once the westernmost point of the Tang Dynasty.
This talk event commemorated the publication of the "Teikyo University Silk Road Series," a compilation of his research findings to date. Professor Yamauchi spoke about how he entered the world of archaeology, his encounter with Silk Road research, anecdotes about excavation surveys, and his thoughts as editor on the launch of this series. "Archaeological research is a place where people meet, and I have been able to advance my research through many connections," Professor Yamauchi said. "Ak Beshim is thought to lie on the border between West Asian and East Asian cultures. To date, the remains of the Eastern Church of Christ and the Tang Dynasty military base of Suiye Town have been excavated. I hope that in the future we will also discover the remains of the Dayun Temple, believed to have been built in Zhuzhou by the Tang Dynasty Empress Wu Zetian." The event was a great success. Be sure to pick up a copy of the "Teikyo University Silk Road Series," packed with the fascinating research on the Silk Road.
