On Sunday, March 16, 2025, 122 first- and second-year students from the Department of Sports Medicine Department of Sport and Medical Science Faculty of Medical Technology, Teikyo University's Emergency Medical Technician Course and faculty members participated as first-aid volunteers in the 2025 Itabashi City Marathon, held in Itabashi Ward, Tokyo. The Itabashi City Marathon is a full marathon course officially recognized by the Japan Association of Athletics Federations (JAAF) and certified by World Athletics (WA), and is a WRk eligible competition. Students participate in volunteer activities to support this event every year.

The day was marked by harsh conditions with rain and low temperatures all day, causing many runners to drop out, but the students used the knowledge and skills they had acquired in their daily studies to support the runners by dealing with hypothermia and injuries at each aid station. Through this experience, they learned the importance of information sharing and crisis management, received words of gratitude from the runners, and were reminded of the significance of aid work.
We will continue to expand our practical learning opportunities and actively participate in activities that contribute to the local community.
