The 2024 Faculty of Education Awards ceremony was held at Teikyo University's Hachioji Campus on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. This awards ceremony recognizes highly acclaimed individuals and groups enrolled in Faculty of Education who have achieved outstanding results in the fields of faculty, sports, culture, welfare, etc. This year, three students received the awards and were presented by the Faculty's Dean, Haruo Sato.
Since entering university, Sodai Matsuba (Faculty of Education 4th year) has actively participated in community contribution activities mainly in Saitama City, where he is from, and has been constantly providing learning support activities for junior high school students as a learning advisor to Saitama City Shiman Junior High School Saturday Challenge School, and has always been engaged in learning guidance activities for about 30~40 junior high school students. In addition, using his experience as the captain of Rugby Football Club at his alma mater, Ina Gakuen Sogo High School, he has coached elementary school students as the head coach of the elementary school tag rugby team at Keya Kids Omiya Rugby Football Club sponsored by the Saitama Rugby Football Association. In addition to technical guidance on tag rugby, he also provided guidance on the prevention of accidents, the fun of exercise, and the importance of effort and teamwork, and was evaluated for gaining the trust of children and parents.
Yasuhisa Miura (4th year, Faculty of Education) wrote a graduation research paper titled "Conditions for Implementing Entrepreneurship Education to Cultivate the Ability to Open Up the Future - Focusing on Practical Examples Targeting Elementary School Students." He analyzed current policy trends and local educational practices, and conducted in-depth research into the necessary conditions for implementing entrepreneurship education for elementary school children while fostering relationships between children and adults in the local community. He also received recognition for achieving excellent grades in the courses and practical training related to the Social Researcher, Social Education Director, and Japanese Language Teacher courses, and for utilizing the skills he developed through these courses to actively contribute to various extracurricular activities on campus throughout the year, such as serving as a Campus Life Tutor and Home Concierge.
Ryona Sakuma (4th year, Faculty of Education) has been awarded the Tama Mirai Scholarship for 2023 by the Tama Network for Academic, Cultural and Industrial Studies, a public interest incorporated association. As a member of the 10th batch of Tama Mirai Scholarship recipients, she participated in the program, interacting with companies, organizations and government agencies in the Tama region, visiting companies, exploring issues facing Chino City, Nagano Prefecture, and writing a paper on the past and future of urban development, and formulating recommendations for regional revitalization. When applying for the Tama Mirai Scholarship Program, she utilized the results of her studies in the field teaching material development research course she took at our faculty in writing her application paper and in her actual activities.
