Utsunomiya CampusAssociate Professor Miyamoto of Faculty of Science and Engineering receives the Agricultural Chemistry Encouragement Award

At the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Agricultural Chemical Society of Japan, held at the Sapporo Convention Center (Sapporo) from Tuesday, March 4th to Saturday, March 8th, 2025, Associate Professor Koji Miyamoto of the Department of Faculty of Science and Engineering Department of Biosciences, Teikyo University, received the 2025 Agricultural Chemistry Encouragement Award and gave an acceptance speech.
This society is one of the leading academic societies for researchers in the fields of chemistry and biology related to keywords such as life, food, and the environment, and is a large society with approximately 9,000 members.
Associate Professor Miyamoto's award-winning research was titled "Research on the biosynthesis of antibacterial secondary metabolites in rice and their regulatory mechanisms," and he contributed to elucidating the evolution of biosynthesis of phytoalexins, which function in rice's defense response to stress, and the transcriptional regulatory mechanisms of biosynthetic genes. In the future, this research is expected to be applied to strengthening the stress tolerance of agricultural crops and to disease and pest control technologies.
