Kendo Club held a Kendo class for children from Teikyo University Kindergarten
On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, the Teikyo University Kendo Club held a kendo class for Teikyo University Kindergarten Martial Teikyo University Martial Arts Center (Hachioji City, Tokyo). The class was planned and designed by students themselves, with content appropriate for the age of the children, in order to convey the charm and fun of kendo.
On the day, the children were divided into four teams of around five people, with a club member assigned to each group, who practiced basic movements such as etiquette, greetings, footwork and swinging, using bamboo swords sized to fit the children, in a game-like manner. The students of our university's Kendo Club were energized by the smiles of the children, and it was a great opportunity to learn about the difficulties of teaching and return to their roots. Teikyo University will continue to create valuable opportunities for students and children to interact in the future.
