On Tuesday, January 7, 2025, Masayuki Hirokawa (4th year, Faculty of Science and Engineering) won the Excellence Award at the Japan Society for Design Engineering Magazine Cover Design Contest.
This contest invited submissions for original 3D CG designs representing the Japan Society of Design Engineering (JSDE) using a yellow base color. Of the 20 submissions, ours unfortunately did not win the grand prize, but we did win the Excellence Award.
Hirokawa, who belongs to the Mitsuhashi Kaoru Laboratory (UX/XR Laboratory) in the Department of Department of Mechanical and Precision Systems, Faculty of Faculty of Science and Engineering, applied at the recommendation of his supervisor, having previously had a hobby of virtual reality and CG creation. Hirokawa's design was based on the concept of creating an interesting and impactful cover design by depicting a robotic arm lifting up the letters "JSDE."
