Many students from Fukuoka Campusparticipated as volunteers in the training for injured people.

On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, 26 students from Teikyo University (11 from Department of Radiological Technology, 8 Emergency Medical Technician Course, and 7 Division of Radiological Sciences) volunteered to take part in a mass casualty training exercise held at Yokokura Hospital (Miyama City, Fukuoka Prefecture), a social medical corporation. This marks the first year that students from our university have participated in a mass casualty training exercise hosted by Yokokura Hospital.
This training was a disaster medical training exercise simulating a train-vehicle collision accident, and was conducted with the participation of Yokokura Hospital staff, as well as members of the Yanagawa City Fire Department and the Miyama City Fire Department.

On the day, the students were divided into roles of injured and sick people and first-line triage, with the students playing the injured and sick people performing a convincing performance that was so convincing that it confused those around them, while the students playing first-line triage fully demonstrated the results of their daily training. At the end of the training, there was a summary at Yokokura Hospital, where participants were told things like, "The most important thing is to communicate and share information," "Conflicting information causes confusion and prevents expert teams from performing to their full potential," "The role of chronology in disaster medical care is very important," "Preparation is important in disaster medical care," and "When a Nankai Trough earthquake occurs, all students will be active on the front lines of disaster medical care."
Students who participated in the volunteer program shared their thoughts, saying, "It's not easy to learn about the on-site and hospital response at the time of a disaster even at university, so it was very educational to be able to see a realistic scene," and "I learned that information sharing and the role of chronology are important in medical care during disasters, and I was able to learn important things that I will use when I work as a medical professional in the future." It was a very valuable experience for the students.
Fukuoka Campus will continue to actively engage in local cooperation, including collaboration with local medical institutions.
