On Friday, January 10, 2025, at the Tokyo Social Innovation Tech Award 2024 award ceremony, a project sponsored by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to promote the resolution of social issues using advanced technology, Professor Masaki Sugimoto of the Innovation Lab Okinaga Research Institute of Teikyo University and his colleagues received the top award, the Grand Prize.
The Tokyo Social Innovation Tech Award 2024 evaluates and selects outstanding solutions from small and medium-sized enterprises in Tokyo, and aims to support the spread of these solutions and accelerate the resolution of social issues facing the city by supporting matching of business partners. This year, Holoeyes Inc., a Teikyo University-sponsored venture founded and represented by Professor Sugimoto, was selected as the winner of the Grand Prize for its outstanding solution out of 107 applications.
The award-winning medical imaging XR metaverse system "Holoeyes" (medical device) aims to resolve social issues by making medical technology explicit, thereby correcting regional medical disparities, improving communication, and promoting the efficient use of medical resources.
