The Terakawa Seminar at Hachioji CampusFaculty of Economics won first place in the group award at the 20th Veritas Cup Presentation Contest.

At the 20th Veritas Cup Presentation Contest held at Rikkyo University on Saturday, December 21, 2024, four students from the Terakawa Seminar at Teikyo University's Faculty of Economics gave a presentation titled "What is Human Communication Like in the AI Era?" and won first place in the group award. Additionally, Hanon Miyagawa (3rd year, Faculty of Economics) won the MIP Award as an individual award. Outside of the presentation team, Nozomi Sakai (3rd year, Faculty of Economics) also won the Change-Up Award, given to the person who asked the most witty question, and the entire Terakawa Seminar won the Alumni Award in recognition of their active participation in the Q&A session.

The Veritas Cup is an intercollegiate presentation contest mainly held at universities in the Kanto region. This year's theme was "Truth," and seven teams from Kansai University, Gunma Prefectural Women's University, Senshu University, Toyo University, Teikyo University, Nihon University, and Rikkyo University each prepared research reports from their own unique perspectives and competed on the basis of their presentation skills.

The report from the Terakawa seminar argued that, now that AI technology has evolved to the point where it can imitate humans to a level that is indistinguishable from the real thing, and has even made inroads into the field of communication, such as conversation and physical contact, the only way humans can communicate is by facing each other and building irreplaceable relationships. This award was given in recognition of the thorough research, theoretical delve into the essence of communication, and sincere responses to questions during the Q&A session.
In response to this result, member Miyagawa said, "I'm truly grateful to the teachers who taught me and my friends who supported me. As you can see from the content of our presentation, I want to continue to value a sincere attitude in everything I do." As you all have grown significantly in both academic and teamwork aspects while working towards this contest, we look forward to seeing you all do great things in the future.
