Utsunomiya CampusEngineering Club "RoboLab" participated in the World Robot Olympiad 2024 Turkey World Championships

The World Robot Olympiad 2024 was held in Izmir, Turkey from Thursday, November 28th to Saturday, November 30th, 2024, and Teikyo Robostar, a member of RoboLab, an engineering club at Teikyo University's Utsunomiya Campus, competed in the Future Engineers division. The competition is open to high school, university, and technical college students, and pits them against each other in more advanced robot control. This year's theme was AI and autonomous driving robots, with the self-propelled robot using a camera to identify obstacles and walls while aiming to complete a mission.
Teikyo Robostar placed 16th after three days of competition against top competitors from 52 countries around the world. The team members are first-year students in the Faculty of Faculty of Science and Engineering, who won the Japanese competition four months after enrolling and demonstrated outstanding performance at this world competition. The competition ranking is determined by the total score and time in three events. They received a perfect score of 30 points in the first event, the Open Challenge, and added points in the first round of the second event, the Final Match, to finish the first day in 9th place. Although their score did not improve in the second round of the Final Match on the final day, they achieved a high score of 5th out of 52 countries in the third event, Robot Design, which led to their ranking this time.
The students deepened their international understanding with athletes from various countries, and upon returning home, they have already begun preparations for the 2025 World Championships in Singapore. We look forward to seeing great things from the engineering club, RoboLab, in the future.
