Students from Nagai Seminar Hachioji Campusspoke at SIW2024

On Sunday, November 10, 2024, two teams from the seminar of Teikyo University Department of Economics Faculty of Economics Senior Assistant Professor Lisa took to the stage and gave a presentation at "Generation Z's Thoughts on Smart Drinking" *1 at SOCIAL INNOVATION WEEK 2024 (SIW2024), held at Tokyu Plaza Harajuku "Harakado" (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo). SIW is one of Japan's largest social and cultural design festivals, organized by Shibuya Future Design General Incorporated Association, and this year various events were held over the course of about a month.
As part of the "Shibuya Smart Drinking Project" *2, Nagai's seminar team has been working on a project themed around "Doing XX with Smart Drinking" to promote understanding of smart drinking among Generation Z and promote new ways of enjoying alcohol. The students who appeared at SIW this time were from a team that received excellent reviews in a presentation to a related company on Thursday, July 25th of the same year. They presented a proposal for distributing non-alcoholic drinks at hot springs, titled "Non-Alcoholic Drinks at Hot Springs," incorporating the results of a survey conducted at the cafeteria and videos. Students from another team from Nagai's seminar, who also won the grand prize in a corporate presentation and were granted implementation rights with a partner company, also took the stage to announce a special exhibition scheduled to take place on the 4th floor of Shibuya Smart Drinking Bar from Friday, January 24th to Sunday, January 26th, 2025. Many students from other universities also participated in this event, allowing Nagai's seminar students to deepen their interactions with their peers.
In addition to the Shibuya Smart Drinking Project, Nagai's seminar will continue to work on activities that contribute to achieving the SDGs, including TABLE FOR TWO (TFT) *3.

  • *1Smart Drinking
The Asahi Group is advocating diversity in drinking styles as part of its efforts to achieve SDG 3, "Good health and well-being for all." This is the freedom to choose the right alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink to suit your constitution, mood, and the occasion.
  • *2Shibuya Smart Drinking Project
This is a joint project between Sumadori Inc. and Future Design Shibuya, a general incorporated association. The aim is to foster a healthy drinking culture through seminars on responsible drinking and disseminating information on responsible drinking to address alcohol-related issues such as street drinking, which is a problem in Shibuya Ward, and to contribute to creating a safe, secure and clean city.
  • *3TABLE FOR TWO (TFT)
An initiative by the international NPO TABLE FOR TWO International, which aims to simultaneously improve obesity in developed countries and hunger in developing countries. When you purchase a TFT healthy menu item, 20 yen per meal is donated to the cost of school lunches for children in developing countries. The name means "a table for two."
