Signing ceremony for agreement regarding regional quota School of Medicine held with Gunma Prefecture

On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, a signing ceremony for an agreement regarding regional School of Medicine quotas was held at the Gunma Prefectural Office (Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture) between Gunma Prefecture and three private universities in Tokyo, including Teikyo University.
The purpose of this agreement is to resolve the shortage of doctors in Gunma Prefecture and the uneven distribution of doctors in regions and medical departments, and to ensure stable regional medical care, through the training of School of Medicine students and graduates who fall into the Gunma Prefecture quota set by our university. We will also cooperate with each other in training School of Medicine students and others who fall into the Gunma Prefecture quota as doctors who will be responsible for regional medical care.

The agreement ceremony was attended by Gunma Prefecture Governor Ichita Yamamoto, Tokyo Medical University President Keisuke Miyazawa, Kyorin University Dean of School of Medicine Akito Hiragata, and our university's Vice President and Executive Director Hiroko Okinaga, who signed the agreement. Gunma Prefecture will provide tuition loans to our School of Medicine students who enroll under the Gunma Prefecture Special Regional Quota, and if they work for a certain period of time at a hospital in Gunma Prefecture after graduation, they will be exempt from repaying the tuition loan.
Our university will continue to contribute to local medical care by nurturing excellent doctors who have a spirit of independence and self-reliance.
