Utsunomiya CampusEnlightening High Schoolers: Utsunomiya Campus Hosts Dynamic Career Exploration Event

An internship related to career choice and inquiry-based learning was held at Teikyo University's Utsunomiya Campus on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. This project was aimed at high school students, who were able to choose a topic that interested them from lectures, hands-on classes, and laboratory experiences taught by faculty from the humanities, science, and medical faculties, create a timetable, and experience university classes throughout the day, which they could use to help them choose a faculty and engage in inquiry-based learning.

Over 1,300 high school students from within and outside the prefecture visited the university, and faculty from our Utsunomiya Campus, Itabashi Campus, and Hachioji Campus participated. More than 157 courses were offered, covering the humanities, sciences, and medical fields. During the hands-on classes, students from Utsunomiya Campus were seen assisting students by explaining the courses and assisting them with the hands-on activities. This provided a great opportunity for high school students to interact with students and help them visualize their futures. Participating high school students shared their impressions, saying, "I took lectures on a variety of subjects, and I'm gradually learning more about my interests," "I had a lot of fun learning so many things I didn't know," and "I was able to choose a field that interested me and listen to a course that I can use in my future. I went to listen to a course because I'm interested in psychology, and it was a great opportunity to hear more about psychology."
