Teikyo University's Cheerleading Club, BUFFALOS, won the Division 1 University division of the freestyle competition at the 26th Kanto Cheerleading Championships, held at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) from Friday, June 21st to Sunday, June 23rd, 2024. 27 teams competed in this division, and after a disappointing runner-up finish at the same competition last year, BUFFALOS performed with a relaxed expression, and the entire venue was filled with loud cheers and applause, leading to a flawless performance that earned them a high score of 282.5 points and a return to victory.
After the tournament, captain An Sekigawa (3rd year, Faculty of Medical Technology) spoke confidently, "I'm very happy that we were able to perform to the best of our ability and achieve the amazing result of winning. Since we became a new team, we've always valued teamwork, and we were able to demonstrate that even in practice. We were able to perfect our routine early on and deliver a performance that we were satisfied with. Our main goal is to win the JAPAN CUP, so we'll use the disappointment of last year's mistakes in the final as motivation to improve even more and deliver a performance that is truly ours at the JAPAN CUP." Members of the baseball team also came to the venue to cheer on the BUFFALOS, who have supported us in league matches and the university championships, and it was very impressive to see them sending enthusiastic cheers. We hope you will continue to support the Teikyo University Cheerleading Club BUFFALOS.
