A guest speaker from Fukutsu City, Fukuoka Prefecture was invited toHachioji Campus Campus for a class.

On Monday, June 10, 2024, we invited Yuko Miyagi, a former Fukuoka prefecture employee who is currently working on urban development as a connector for the Kikkake Lab at the Fukutsu City Future Co-Creation Center in Fukuoka Prefecture, to Hachioji Campus to teach classes on Public Policy I and Regional Policy I.
This class is taught by Associate Professor Akira Pakui of the Department Department of Political Science Faculty of Law, and covers a wide range of theories and practices regarding policies implemented by various administrative agencies. This time, we asked Mr. Miyagi, who has practical experience related to the content of the lecture, to give a lecture, aiming to deepen students' understanding by exposing them to what is actually happening in the field of local government.

Fukutsu City has established the Fukutsu City Future Co-Creation Center Kikkake Lab as an innovation center that organizes and supports projects aimed at solving local issues. With the need for collaboration among various parties, including not only the government but also local residents, local organizations, and companies, the city's efforts have attracted attention nationwide. Based on his abundant experience in urban development as a connector, Mr. Miyagi lectured through practical examples of urban development in Fukutsu City. In Public Policy Theory I, he spoke about the importance of nurturing residents who are involved in civic activities, basic ideas about volunteering, and specific volunteer activities, which aroused the students' interest. In Regional Policy Theory I, he spoke about the importance of creating a system that involves residents. Through this class, the students learned and discovered a lot from on-site efforts, making it an exciting and meaningful class for them.

We will continue to invite guest speakers who are at the forefront of urban development and incorporate on-site efforts into the learning process, thereby helping to acquire knowledge and foster a passion for creating a prosperous local community.
